Vice Chairman South QPSP: Dr. Syed Mairajuddin Shah

Dr. Syed Mairajuddin Shah, Manager, Clinical Affairs and CME completed his M.B., B.S., in 1990 from Sindh Medical College, Karachi and his M.C.P.S in Family Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan in 1995. He further obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from the Asian Management Institute of the IQRA University, Karachi in 1999. He was certified as a Quality Professional by the Pakistan Institute of Quality Control in 2000 and as a Quality Manager by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in 2002. In October 2003 he got certified by the Healthcare Quality Certification Board (HQCB), USA, as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and is the only Pakistani who has acquired this mark of distinction.

 He is a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems and is also actively involved in the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) process at AKUH. He was trained for the International Accreditation at the Joint Commission’s headquarter located in the Oak Brook, Illinois, USA.  He is the Co-chair of AKUH Continuous Quality Improvement Coordinators Committee, Secretary of the Joint Staff Committee, Lecturer in Health Care Quality with the Department of Community Health Sciences AKU, and a visiting faculty on the same subject at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

 Dr. Shah has is a member of American Society for Quality (ASQ), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Vice Chairman South, Quality and Productivity Society of Pakistan (QPS) and Founder of Health Care Quality Chapter of QPSP . He is a practicing Family Physician at the Community Health Center of AKUH. He has over 16 years of experience in the fields of Family Medicine, Physician Relations, Medical Staff Credentialing, Administration, Quality Management, and Quality Training, inclusive of 15 years at AKU.
